PAUL VAN HOESEN
Chief Encouragement Officer
PAUL VAN HOESEN
Entrepreneurial Start up Advisory
I work closely with a select group of start up founders during the critical climb from ideation to breakeven.
My goal for an entrepreneur is to help them realistically see the big picture, connect with partners and resources, define their launch plan, preserve their ownership equity during capitalization, find the critical first customer, and execute a successful launch.
Most importantly I help them preserve and enhance their personal and spiritual lives in the process.
I started my first company in 1991 and have been privileged to work with great men and women in many ventures and learn from their wisdom, mistakes and successes - and my own as well. I am still learning everyday.
When you work with me, you work with my expert vetted team and we focus on the following areas:
Business strategy
Legal Formation
Equity Structure and Capital Formation
Accounting and tax planning
Branding and Marketing
Technology
Personal and Spiritual Growth
The view at the top is worth the climb.

PEER TREE
I have known CEO and founder John Dunavan for his 20+ years in the enterprise learning solutions market. Peer Tree is birthed from John's deep experience in building custom performance learning solutions to the Fortune 500. His work has won 6 “Best of the Best” National & International Awards and he created the first Learning Science category in the GSA Schedule. Peer Tree is a fusion of the standard elements of Ed Tech but the end product is engaging teams long term to contextualize knowledge, learn from each other, and achieve team performance goals. This is of high value to Fortune 500 clients. Peer Tree is launching at scale in Q1 2023. $1.2M invested to date. Ed Techs are typically 10-18x exit multiples. Peer Tree has incredible potential.
SHEPHERD SYSTEMS
I met founder Bill Martin at church in 2018 and he introduced me to his partner Rick Wiseman and marketing partners Matt Brown and Amy LaGrant from Brand Mettle. Bill has significant depth of understanding in the senior space and Amy is a Gerontologist by trade. Shepherd has hit a significant unmet need in senior care - unpaid caregivers. Shepherd is an app and a web site that allows a lead unpaid caregiver to organize all key communication, activities, documents and resources for the senior they are helping into one simple platform. It provides expert guidance about caregiving and caregiver health. Their are 53 million family caregivers and half are struggling to hold down full-time jobs. First customers are employee benefit plans who will pay PMPM for this service. Rolling out in Q1 2023. Seed capital round from the Jumpstart Foundry Nashville. High need, underserved market with high growth potential.
THE MLK SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVE
I met founder Matt Daniels in 2019 when he was seeking help to bring his vision of having the non-violent social justice principles of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King taught in public schools. Little did we know the divine timing of that encounter as the summer of 2020 unfolded creating a new challenges to racial harmony in the U.S. Born the son of a single mother from Spanish Harlem, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College and received his law degree and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and his Ph.D. in American Politics at Brandeis University. He serves as an Chair of Law & Human Rights Center for Human Rights and International Affairs at the Institute for World Politics in Washington, DC. Matt is uniquely equipped to bring the unifying message of Dr. King that the pathway to achieving equality is through non-violent action and deepening understanding of the fundamental rights of man. The MLK Initiative is now in K12 schools via McGraw- Hill and we are launching a corporate DEI training company next.
